Good Bye and Good Luck . . .

It is hard to believe that today is the last day of term - we would like to say how much we have enjoyed getting to know all the children and it has been great to see them develop in so many ways. It is sad to say goodbye but wonderful to know that they are embarking on the next stage of their journey - we wish them all the best and look forward to hearing of their many future achievements. Take care and have a lovely summer!

Whatever the Weather . . .

As you know, we had to postpone one of our Sports Days due to unsafe ground conditions following heavy rain back in June. We were determined to try and fit in an alternative afternoon for the parents to come and see their budding little athletes and yesterday was the day. The rain began falling just before we were due to start, but undeterred, after a safety inspection, we went ahead! The children were brilliant and carried on through the showers - we were so proud of them all.
We'd like to say a huge THANK YOU to everyone that helped to raise sponsorship - thanks to your generosity we have been able to send £388.80 to the British Heart Foundation and will have £97.20 to spend on new sports equipment for the children - well done and thank you.

Star of the Week . . .

Our Stars of the week for last week were Eric and Ruby, and this week we have had Liam and Sterling - well done to all of you!

A little reminder for the week . . .

  • As this is the final week of term, we would be grateful if you could all have a check at home for any Nursery books that have not yet made their way back to the book corner! Thank you.
  • Weather permitting, we are hoping to have our Sports day on Thursday afternoon for those children / parents that were unable to proceed with our original planned afternoon one in June. As before, this will however, be dependent on the weather! We would suggest that children come to Nursery in the appropriate clothing - just in case - and we will make the decision on the day according to the field conditions!
  • Please ensure that all belongings are taken home this week - you may well need the wellies throughout the holiday!

Going for Gold . . .

This week has been another very exciting one for us in the Nursery. We had entered the Town of Flowers Schools Unusual Container competition and had a visit from the judges on Tuesday. Yesterday we found out that we had been awarded first place! As you can see above, we had an 'Olympic' theme this year - well done and thank you to everyone that planted up a container, all your hard work paid off!

The school also received a visit from Alison Williamson, Olympic Archer, on Tuesday for a special assembly. Alison kindly judged the Olympic Torch design competition and Poppy G was awarded first place with gold, and Eva third place with bronze - well done to both girls, we are very proud of you.

Wellie Wednesday

It was great to get outside today and we managed to stay dry for most of the day! We got the blindfolds on used our senses to get to know a special tree. We had to very carefully lead our partners to a tree where they felt the bark, the shape of the leaves, where the branches started, how wide the trunk was and what it smelt like. Then back at the fire square, we took the blind folds off and then used our eyes to see if we could identify the tree. We were all very good finding the right tree!

Summer Dreams . . .

Despite all the rain we have been having, this week we have thought about what we enjoy doing during the summer - preferably when it is not raining! Max likes playing on the beach with his brother and building sand castles. Ryan likes having picnics and going camping and Liam likes going in the pool. We had lots of fun making our summer display - what do you like to do when it is sunny?
