A little reminder for the week . . .

  • Please remember that the Parent Contribution forms are due back on Wednesday, as are the Bag2School!
  • Thank you to those parents that have already sent in either a wooden spoon or a sock for puppet making this week. Please ensure that all others are brought in and are labelled with your child's name.
  • Please return parent meeting slips as soon as possible so that appointment times can be allocated. Thank you.

Shape Toys!

We really enjoyed exploring our favourite toys and thought Kipper might like to have some new shape toy pictures to look at! Some of us used the flat shapes to match and place on top of toy pictures, some of us selected the appropriate shapes and copied the pictures underneath, and some of us printed with the shapes!

We talked about the different shapes that we had used, and counted how many sides and corners they each had. Now Kipper has got some super pictures of trains, clowns, rockets and robots!

Would you like to design a shape toy for Kipper? We would love you to share it with us if you do.

Kipper's Toybox!

Everyone loved the story of Kipper's Toybox so we decided to bring in our own special toys to share with each other. We thought carefully about which ones were hard and which were soft, and what they were made from. Some of our toys had buttons and switches so we explored how to make them work!

Here are a few examples of what some of the children told us about their favourite toy:

Eloise A - "It's a monster puppet, I put my hand inside and touch the soft thing to make a sound. I had him from Father Christmas. It's soft and orange and green."

Harley - "It's Spiderman. You press his spider and he talks. The spider turns yellow. The spider hurt him on his hand and turned him into Spiderman. Aunty Laura bought him for me."

Abigail - "Pink the dog. It goes in the microwave to make him warm then I go to sleep and have a rest."

What do you like best about your favourite toy?

A little reminder for the week . . .

  • Please ensure that if you are taking 'snow wear' home from Nursery that you remember to return it in time for Wellie Wednesday!
  • There has been a change to the Lunch menu for this week - there is a special 'Farmhouse Breakfast' meal on Thursday and the usual options for Thursday will now be available on Tuesday instead.
  • Please remember that it is school policy that nuts in any form are NOT permitted as we have children with a severe nut allergy. Please be mindful of this when sending in packed lunches etc. Thank you.

Star of the Week . . .

We had lots of Star's last week - they included Codey, Laura, Phoebe, Jake, Grace and Abigail - well done and congratulations to all of you.

Fun in the Snow!

There was great excitement when we were getting ready to go outside and explore the snow today! We had lots of fun creating Snow Angels and making snowballs . . .

But we kept safe and made sure that we didn't throw them at each other! We also read the story of 'Kipper's Snowy Day' and talked about why the snowdog might have melted at the end.

We hope that you have lots of fun playing in the snow - but remember to wrap up warm and to stay safe!

How many Buttons?

We all enjoyed learning a new rhyme called 'Five Little Snowmen' and afterwards, we played a number game where we helped to put the right amount of buttons on the Snowman!

Can you count how many red buttons there are? What about the green buttons? How many are there altogether?

We had lots of fun playing this game - and even more fun when we heard that we were going to get some real snow and might be able to build a real Snowman!

Tweet Treats

Jack Frost had been out last night and made our school field all crunchy, white and sparkly. Today we had to really wrap up before going out.  We listened carefully to the birds and talked about how some migrate to warmer climates during the winter months. Other birds stay, managing to keep warm by eating more food and fluffing up their feathers. These birds can get very hungry because worms are very difficult to get out of the ground when it is hard and frozen so they have to manage by finding berries or seeds. We decided to help them by making some special seed cone treats for the birds to feed on. We spread lard over the fir cones and then rolled them in bird seed before hanging them in the trees. Next week we’re going to see if the birds have eaten their tweet treats and whether they come back for more!

A Promise for the New Year . . .

This week we have been thinking carefully about the start to the new term and how we can ensure that we all help to keep the Nursery a safe and happy place to be. Everyone has made a 'New Year Promise' which we are going to help each other to keep. Here are a small selection:

Freya. R - "I will play with the toys nicely"

Elliot - "I am going to share"

Alex - "I will put the toys away"

Finley - "I will listen carefully"

Laura - "I am going to be a good girl!"

We would love to hear if you have made a New Year Resolution!

Happy New Year!

We would like to say a very 'Happy New Year' to you all and welcome you back for the start of the Spring Term.

As you know, there were several children (and staff!) poorly at the end of last term and so I have not had chance to say a massive 'WELL DONE' to everyone for their fantastic Nativity performances - we were very proud of you all.

I hear that you also had a wonderful Christmas Party and that the Pantomime was enjoyed by everyone that attended - thank you to all members of staff that helped with these events in my absence.

Hopefully everyone is now feeling much better and looking forward to the term ahead - which as always will be a very busy one! Here are a few reminders for this week . . .

  • There were a few outstanding Library books from the book corner at the end of last term, please check at home to see if you still have them and if so, return them to Nursery. Thank you.
  • You will receive a letter about Wellie Wednesday this week - please check if your child has changed groups and ensure that they have appropriate clothing and boots in school at all times (all named!).
  • Please remember to keep us informed of any change of telephone numbers - particularly if you have had a new mobile for Christmas!

Thank you - we hope you will all enjoy the term ahead!
