Superworm

As we have been exploring ways to use different parts of our body -  such as our head or shoulder to balance a bean bag on, our feet to kick a ball, and our hands to throw, catch or roll a ball - we thought this next book by Julia Donaldson would be a good choice!

Click here to visit our 'Share A Story, Share A Smile!' and find out what some of the children thought about the different ways that Superworm used his body!

Star of the Week!

Last week, Ben G and Harvey were both awarded 'Star of the Week'!
Well done and congratulations.

Time For A Little Snack . . .

Everyone enjoys having a nice healthy snack in Nursery - we have been sequencing what we need to do . . .

First you need to get one squirt of anti-bac gel to help get rid of any germs on your hands.

Next you can choose whether to have some
milk, or pour yourself some water to drink.

When you are sitting down at the table, you can help yourself to some nice healthy fruit or vegetables to eat.

After you have finished, you need to put your empty cup or milk bottle into the bowl ready to be washed.

What do you enjoy eating and drinking at snack time?
Let us know!

What the Ladybird Heard . . .

Each term, alongside all of our theme related books and rhymes, we focus on one particular author and this term we will be sharing a range of stories written by Julia Donaldson.

As we have been using our ears and doing a lot of 'listening' we thought this would be a lovely story to start with . . .
You can find some of the comments made by the children about this story on our 'Share A Story, Share A Smile!' - click here to find out more!

Choose An Instrument . . .

We have been having lots of fun with the instruments this week!
First we played a game called 'Hidden Instruments' where we searched our Nursery courtyard to find all the instruments that had been hidden - and then explored how we could play them!
Next we played 'Choose and Instrument' where we passed a beanbag round the circle whilst singing a song - when we got to the end of the first verse, whoever had the beanbag could choose their favourite instrument to play during the second verse. We repeated this until everyone in the group had an instrument.

Finally we concluded with a wonderful marching band!

Have you got a favourite instrument that you like to play?
Post us a comment and let us know.

 I can see you.

Drawing dinosaurs.

Busy with the wheelbarrow.
Well done Squirrels and mice, a super first Wellie Wednesday session!

Remember to Wash Your Hands!

There are lots of times when it is very important to wash your hands, and we have been thinking about some of them:

*After you have been to the toilet
*Before you have something to eat
*After you have been painting
*When you have been handling animals
*After you have been playing in the garden
*Before you do some baking

This is what we are going to remember to do to make sure that we always wash our hands properly and get rid of any germs . . .

1. Hold them under the tap water to make them WET

2. Add one squirt of SOAP and rub them together
3. Put them back under the tap and RINSE  off all the soap

4. Shake off the water and then DRY them

So remember - Wet, Soap, Rinse and Dry!

Can you think of any other times when you should wash your hands?

Hello Harry!

We have been having so much fun getting to know each other and our new environment - and this week Harry the Hedgehog came to visit us. . .
Harry was very shy to begin with - he was nervous about meeting so many new children and was worried that he might not be able to make any friends.

We talked about how we could help him to feel safe and happy and thought about how we could ensure that everyone in Nursery felt this way.

To help us remember all the things we talked about, we have made Harry Hedgehog's Nursery Charter . . .
We are all going to support each other to try and do all the things that we agreed - and make sure that our Nursery is always a safe and happy place to be!

Welcome to the Autumn Term in Nursery!

We would like to extend a very warm welcome to all of our new children and their families as we embark on a new school year.

This week, the children in Nursery have been joining us for their Induction Sessions. They have had lots of fun getting to know their new environment.

Click on the video below to see what they have been up to!

We hope you enjoyed watching.
Now we are all looking forward to more fun next week!
