Star of the Week!

Congratulations to Kaidence, Sammy O and Hattie who were all awarded our 'Star of the Week'.

Well done!

The Gruffalo

Some of the children recognised this story as soon as they saw the front cover!
We knew it would be a very popular choice and a lovely book to share as we continue our focus on Julia Donaldson.

Happy Diwali!

Do you like our traditional Indian clothing?
We have been finding out about Diwali, the festival of lights.
This is one of the most important festivals in the Hindu religious calendar and marks the end of the Hindu year.

It was fun creating our Rangoli patterns using the computer!

Mehndi is made from herbs and is used to draw patterns on the skin. We selected from a range of paint, pens and crayons to design our own mehndi patterns!
We also used the computer . . .

This little song will tell you more about Diwali - we hope you enjoy it!

Shape Dinosaurs!

We have been matching shapes on top of our dinosaur pictures this week!
Which shapes do you recognise?
Can you describe some of their properties?
Which shape has got three sides
and three corners?
How many sides has the hexagon got?

Have a go at creating your own shape dinosaur, which shapes will you use?

We would love to see them!

Dinosaur Eggs!

Something very exciting happened in our Nursery this week - we found some
dinosaur eggs!

This is how some of the children described what they found and predicted what they thought would happen . . .

Olivia - "I can see bubbles. It's cold and it's ice. There's a dinosaur. And it's melting!" (the egg)

Christopher - "It's a green crocodile with a spiky tail. It's ice and hard. It's slippery and cold and freezing. It's making me cold!"

Alfie T - "It's going to crack - because the dinosaurs got teeth. It will bite, it will make a big hole. Look at it's waggly tail!"

Georgia - "It will crack and the dinosaur will come out. The ice will be gone into water."

We kept a close eye on what was happening throughout the day . . .

Sophie - "It hatched and there's a dinosaur in the water. And a little ice."

Lucas - "The egg is actually hatching now and the dinosaur has come out. He's in the water.
It's ice and it's melted cause the dinosaur
hatched out."

What would you do if you found a dinosaur egg in your house?

Let us know!

Dinosaur Swamp Soup!

We have been very busy at Forest School, using our mud kitchen to make swamp soup, mud pies and rock cakes for dinosaurs. We used various ingredients: leaves ,sticks, seeds, stones, water, soil and conkers!

In the afternoon it poured down with rain. This did not deter us though and we had great fun jumping in the muddy puddles!

Investigating Dinosaurs!

We have had a visit from the Ludlow Museum with their 'Fossils and Dinosaurs' workshop . . .

We found out what a Paleontologist would have worn and what equipment they would have used.
It was great fun being a dinosaur detective and looking at a variety of teeth, bones and fossils!

Can you count how many toes there are on this dinosaur footprint?
Look at this dinosaur egg!

We went on a dinosaur hunt, then sorted our dinosaurs into those that stand on four legs, and those that stand on two . . .
Which do you think were more likely
to eat plants?
Which do you think had sharp teeth and were more likely to eat meat?

We also shared some dinosaur rhymes.
Which part of our workshop do you think you would have enjoyed the most?
Let us know!

Star of the Week!

Well done to both of you!

Dinner at the Dino Diner!

We have been having lots of fun in our Dino Diner this week . . .

"Would you like to sit at a table?"
"What would you like for dinner?"

"I'm making pizza,
I am making lots of pizza!"

"Would you like to sit down?
Have a look at the menu . . ."
"Would you like a Stegosaurus milkshake?
What flavour? - see if we have it
on the menu!"
"What would you like for pudding?"
"I'll go and do your bill - £4.00!"

What do you think you would like to order?
Post us a comment and let us know!

Hide and Seek with the Dinosaurs!

Our friendly dinosaurs wanted to have a game of 'hide and seek' with each other. Look at where they found to hide . . .

Behind the tree
On the tree chair
Inside the tree
Under the story
telling chair
In front of the
bird feeders

They had so much fun - and helped us with our positional vocabulary at the same time!

Have you got a favourite hiding place?
Let us know where it is!

Dinosaurs Love Underpants and Aliens Love Dinopants!

We have had great fun reading these two great books - do you like our creations?

We made two dinosaur teams and had our own 'dinopants tug-of-war'!

We have also been designing and making some more 'dinopants'!
Can you see what we used for the green colour on our rainbow?

Which shapes have we used to print with?

We used a paint roller for our stripes!

Perhaps you could design your own 'dinopants'.
Let us know what they would look like!
