The Toys Party!

We'd all been looking forward to the Toys' party!
Everyone helped to make the cakes . . .
After we had measured the margarine, sugar, flour and eggs, we gave it a good mix!
Then it was time to add the currants . . .
Finally our cakes were ready to go in the oven!
Once they had cooled, we added a cherry on top - Kipper couldn't wait to try one . . .
Then it was time to make the sandwiches!
We carefully sliced the banana . . .
And cut each sandwich in two!
The toys had a great time at the party . . .
And so did we!

We would love you to get in touch and tell us all about your favourite party - we look forward to hearing from you!

Kipper's New Pet

We have been reading our next story
all about Kipper . . .
This time it is Pig's special day and Kipper goes to choose a new pet for him to have as
his birthday present.

Click here to read some of the comments that the children made as we read this lovely book together - and find out which pet Kipper chose!

Kipper's Toy Hunt!

Everyone is excited about the Toys Party that we are going to have.
We thought we better go and look for some of the toys from Kipper's toybox to let them know about the party too!
It was lots of fun going outside and hunting for the toys - we carefully counted how many of each we found and had a go at recording the amount on our chart.
You could have your own toy hunt at home!
How many of each type of toy do you think
you will find?

Preparing for a Party!

We really enjoyed the story of 'Kipper's Birthday' and thought about some of the things that you need to have for a good party . . .

Having included balloons, presents and food on our list, we decided on a menu . . .
Everyone agreed that sandwiches, cake and drinks would be a good choice.

We are all looking forward to making the cakes and sandwiches ready for our Toys Party next week - but until then, we have been having fun 'pretending' we are already at the party!

What type of food do you like to
have at a party?
Let us know!

Shape Toys!

We have been re-creating 'shape' toys!

Which shape has been used for the rabbit's floppy ears?

Can you spot the triangle on the train?

How many circles have been used for the clown?

Some of the children described the shapes
they were using . . .

Jenson - "Square - it's got four sides - the same"

Ella-Grace - "Triangle - one, two, three corners and three sides"

Zak - "It's a rectangle cause it's got one, two, long sides and one, two short sides"

Have a go at creating your own shape toy - which shapes will you use?

Kipper's Birthday

Inspired by our Chinese New Year celebrations, we chose this to be our next Mick Inkpen book - looking at another special celebration!

Wellie Wednesday - Chinese New Year

Today we listened to the Chinese Zodiac story: The Jade Emperor told the animals there was to be a swimming race across the river. The first twelve animals across the river would be winners and they would have a year named after them.
In the Forest School area, we pretended to be those animals swimming across the river. We swam very fast to get to the river bank. We then ordered ourselves in a line from 1st to 7th .

Do you know what animal it is the year of?
Do you know what animal of the year it was when  you were born?
