Share a Story . . .

Each term we have a focus on a different author for some of our story time sessions. This term we will be sharing some Julia Donaldson books. If you click on the 'Share A Story, Share A Smile' book (above the Greenfields Primary School logo on the left hand side of the page) it will take you to our shared Early Years Foundation Stage book blog where you will be able to find out about the books being shared in each class (Nursery, Willow and Rowan). This week we have started with 'The Rhyming Rabbit' in Nursery!

Counting Carrots!

"1, 2, 3!"

This week we have been continuing our theme based around harvest time. We sang a number rhyme based on healthy carrots and a hungry rabbit before going to 'harvest' some of our own carrots for our delicious vegetable soup!

Here are just a couple of quotes from the children . . .

"I can smell the soup - lovely!" (Eva)

"It's tasty in my tummy - thank you for the soup, it's very tasty!" (Leyla)

And here are a couple of photographs . . .

"Very nice!"

"Yummy - it's all gone, it's in my tummy!"

Perhaps you could make some vegetable soup too - which vegetables will you include? Let us know!

The Vegetable Garden . . .

This week we have been for a walk up to the school vegetable garden!

"Look - a big pumpkin!"

"I can see a sign - there's writing on it"

"I've found tomatoes!"

When we got back, we played a 'feely bag' game and described some different vegetables - Louis was really good at this and gave us some great descriptions:

Carrot - "Hard and cold, they crunch when you eat them"

Potato - "Cold and round, it has skin on"

Swede - "It feels heavy and it's cold and it's round"

Perhaps you could play this game at home - we'd love to hear your different descriptive words - let us know which ones you thought of  and which were your favourite vegetables!

Wellie Wednesday

We had our very first Wellie Wednesday session today. We made muddy Autumn soup, hunted for
minibeasts, made dinosaur masks and enjoyed using the rope swing too. Take a look at a few of our photographs.

Shape People!

This week we have been busy singing action rhymes all about different parts of our body.

We have also been looking at different shapes and thought it would be fun to combine the two!

Each group worked together to create a 'shape person' - how many different shapes can you find?

How many sides have our triangles got?
Can you count the corners on the rectangles?

Perhaps you could have a go at creating your own shape person - we would love to see them!

Getting to Know You!

This week we have been having lots of fun getting to know our new children!

They have done some wonderful portraits to add to our gallery . . .

What a great smile!

Steady with the glue!

Carefully painted ears!

We all agreed that even though we might look different, we all want to have the same thing - lots of fun and happy times in Nursery!

Congratulations and well done to everyone - we look forward to seeing you all again next week.

Just to say thank you . . .

Everyone in Nursery would like to say a huge 'THANK YOU' for all the lovely cards and gifts that we received at the end of the summer term - it was very kind of you all.

We were so sad to have to say goodbye to the children (and parents!) but it has been wonderful to see them all again this week looking so grown-up and ready to embark on the next stage of their learning journey in their new Reception Class.

We are so proud of all that they achieved last year - and look forward to hearing about their continued progress!
