Happy Easter!

We have been learning a new number rhyme this week - all about Easter Eggs in a chocolate shop!

Which numbers can you see on these two eggs?

As well as learning a new rhyme, we have been having fun marble rolling on an egg shape for the front of our Easter card . . .

And of course, everyone loved making their Easter Nest - can you count how many eggs there are on top?

We would like to wish everyone a very
HAPPY EASTER!

Easter Egg Hunting

We have had a fun couple of Wellie Wednesdays Easter egg hunting. Also Rodney Rabbit was having a few difficulties with his number work so we kindly helped him by identifying the numbered eggs to 20 and sorting them into the correct numerical order. Rodney Rabbit was so pleased that he gave us all a mini egg to say thank you!

Those eggs were very tasty, we could eat some more!

Wibbly Pig has 10 Balloons!

We all love Wibbly Pig and couldn't wait to find out what would happen to his 10 balloons!
Take a look at our 'Share a Story' to see what we thought of this next Mick Inkpen book.

Star of the Week!

Our Stars for last week were Freddie, Louie C and Ava S.
Well done and congratulations to all of you!

Looking for Signs of Spring . . .

We have been noticing some changes out in our school grounds!

The children reflected on their memories of our 'Winter Walk' earlier in the term, and then thought about what might happen now that it is Spring . . .

Nate - "It was raining and cold, I saw a blackbird" (Winter)
"All the flowers grow - pink, yellow and blue flowers" (Spring)

Ava S - "Cold, there wasn't any leaves on the trees" (Winter)
"Buds - they grow into leaves - they're hard" (Spring)
"Summer comes next!"

Seren - "I saw a bit of snow. We had to put our scarf, hat and gloves on" (Winter)
"The trees start going green - the leaves.
Birds might eat the leaves and put their babies to sleep in a nest. Flowers come out - purple, pink, blue, red and orange" (Spring)

Have you noticed any changes in your garden?
Let us know what signs of Spring you have found!

A Special Assembly . . .

The children have been continuing to think about why their mum is so special to them and have created some wonderful portraits using a choice of media . . .

"I love her eyes" (Ellie F)

"I love her!" (Ava M)

"I love her hair" (Owen)

They have also thought about what makes their mum so fantastic - here are just a few of their ideas . . .

"She cleans everything!" (Billy)

"She hugs me" (Ethan)

"She gets me chocolate buttons" (Leyla)

"She loves me very much" (Amelia)

"She plays games" (Jessica)

"She's pretty" (Molly)

We wanted to share our great portraits and lovely writing so we invited our mums (and some nans!) to a very special Assembly.

For an extra special treat, we baked some butterfly cakes for them!

What do you think is special about your mum?
Let us know!

Happy Mother's Day!

We would like to wish all of our mums a very happy and relaxing day today.
The children created some beautiful cards and book marks for you - we hope you loved them as much as we did.

Enjoy your special day!

Lullabyhullaballoo!

The sun is down.
The moon is up.
It is past bedtime.
But outside the castle . . .

This is another classic bedtime story from Mick Inkpen.

Big Yellow Friday!

As some of you may know, one of the children currently in our nursery was born with liver disease and had a transplant two years ago.
Children's Liver Disease Foundation is a unique national charity that takes action against the effects of childhood liver disease.
They provide information, emotional support, research funding and a voice for all affected.
Now in its eighth year, Big Yellow Friday takes place on the first Friday in March. Thousands of people across the UK hold fun yellow-themed events to raise vital funds and awareness.

Here are some of the activities we have been doing to help raise some money . . .

Wearing something yellow

Going on a 'Yellow Treasure Hunt' - we had to find the yellow objects and look at the yellow number on the elephant to match it to the corresponding numeral on our recording sheet . . .

Can you work out where we found these yellow treasures?

It was lots of fun selecting from a range of yellow collage for our elephants, and then creating a frame for them . . .
Here are just a few - don't they look great!

We were very grateful to all the parents that donated cakes and biscuits for our sale . . .

And of course, we had some nice healthy 'yellow' fruit with our milk!

We would like to say a HUGE THANK YOU to all the parents, children and staff that worked so hard to make our fund raising a success - and as a result we have been able to donate a fantastic £203.40 to the Children's Liver Disease Foundation.
Well done everyone!

Chinese Celebrations Continue!

We were very lucky to have a visit from Miss Tong this week.
She works for the Multicultural Service in Telford and came to help us find out a bit more about China and Chinese New Year . . .

It was lots of fun doing a dragon dance!

And we always love to dress up!

Afterwards, we had some delicious Chinese food, and some of the children tried to use some chopsticks . . .
Well done!

Have you ever tried eating with chopsticks?
How did you get on?

The Chinese Dragon . . .

As you know, the children were keen to have a Chinese Restaurant in the Nursery - so this week we have been busy creating one!
As our restaurant was going to be named the Chinese Dragon, we started by creating a dragon's head!
And then we carefully painted the sign . . .
Now we are looking forward to ordering lots of yummy things from the menu!

What would you like to order?
We would love to hear about your favourite Chinese food!
