Exciting News!

We were very excited to discover that some robins are nesting in our courtyard!

If you look carefully at the photograph above, you can see the robin in the nest - and if you look really carefully at the photograph below, you can see the little yellow beak of her baby - waiting to be fed!

We hope the robins enjoy their time with us!

Star of the Week!

There were lots of 'Stars' last week - Elijah, Kaitlin, Eva, Corey and Lily!
Congratulations and well done to all of you.

Fabulous Flowers!

We are all enjoying watching our Sunflowers start to grow, but we thought it would be fun to design some flowers of our own . . .

We explored 'My drawing' on the iPads, and also used a variety of shapes to print with.

Can you see the circles? How many triangles can you find? What other shapes can you see?

Perhaps you could create a shape
flower of your own!

Over in the Clover

Having looked at a variety of different areas within our school grounds, we thought this would be a lovely book to share!

Look on our 'Share a Story, Share a Smile' to find out what some of the children liked about this count-along rhyme!

Favourite Flower Election!

Inspired by the General Election, we held our own election in the nursery, and voted for our favourite flower!
We made sure nobody could see where we were putting our 'X'!

And then added our vote to the ballot box . . .

We sorted and counted them carefully after all the voting had finished - and Tulips won by a clear majority!

We hope the Daisies and Sunflowers weren't too disappointed!

Which flower would you have voted for?
Let us know!

Magnificent Monet!

This week we have been looking at the work of another famous artist - and have created our own interpretation of
'Agapanthus Flowers' by Monet . . .

We explored using fabric paints on canvas, then adding chalks and pastels - we hope you like it!

Have you got a favourite artist?
We would love to hear about them!

Follow the Flowers!

It was lots of fun hunting for the flowers to make our garland for the May Queen last week. We have been using the flowers again, but this time we have been creating a repeating sequence using two different types of flower.
How would you describe the flowers that have been used to create the sequences you can see?
Perhaps you could create a different sequence - let us know what you would do!

If you're happy and you know it!

This term we are going to be sharing books by Jan Ormerod and Lindsey Gardiner.
Look at our 'Share A Story, Share A Smile!' to find out what we thought of this first book!

Wriggly Worms

We were hungry birds today and searched for wriggly worms. We found red, purple, black, brown and green 'worms!' The red and purple ones the easiest to spot but the green and brown were tricky to find as these were camouflaged - disguised by the colour the natural environment.

Which colour wriggly worm do you think is the most camouflaged?

Happy May Day!

The tradition of celebrating the end of winter began long ago, when villagers would dance around a maypole on the village green and choose a May Queen . . .

It was lots of fun gathering flowers to make our garland!

And it was a great honour to be chosen as Queen of the May to represent Flora, the Goddess of Flowers!

We also brought in flowers from our own gardens and sorted them into groups using the children's criteria - these included size, colour and type of flower.

Which criteria do you think has been used to create this group?

And what about this group?
Can you think of any different criteria that we could have used?

We hope you have all had a lovely 'May Day' and enjoy your Bank Holiday celebrations!

Sunflowers Inspired by Van Gogh!

We are all looking forward to seeing what our Sunflowers will look like when they have grown, and this week we have been looking at an artist's impression of some Sunflowers in a vase.

Inspired by this, we have worked collaboratively to create our own interpretation!

Can you see the different type of
media we have used?
Which is your favourite?
