Our Focus Author Board

We have had lots of fun sharing a selection of books written by Jan Ormerod - we thought you might like to see our collaborative display board that reflects the different ones
we have read together . . .

We chose a character from each book and added quotes from the children based on their thoughts following the story.

Post us a comment and let us know which book was your favourite!

Treasure Packs

This week the children have been very excited as they each received a wonderful BookTrust Treasure Pack to take home!

We shared the story of Max the Brave together and now the children are looking forward to reading it at home too!

Have you got a favourite book that you enjoy?
We'd love to hear about it.

Do you like our handprint aliens?

Kaidence used pastels to draw her rocket . . .

 Lucas created an alien!

Amelia's rocket is zooming into space!

We are going to have lots of fun exploring
different planets . . .

If you did manage to see us during the Open Evening, we would love to hear what you thought.

Star of the Week!

Well done to Theo M R and Austeyn for both being awarded our 'Star of the Week'.

Congratulations!

Getting On and Falling Out!

As part of our focus on 'Empathability' we have been thinking about what makes a good friend.

This is what the children suggested . . .
*Playing together
*Being nice
*Helping each other
*Hugs!
*Being kind

Sometimes friends can fall out so we thought about what we could do when this happens . . .

*If you've said or done something unkind -
say sorry
*If you want to play different games -
play both games in turn
*If you disagree over something -
talk about it and find a compromise

The children drew pictures of themselves with their special friend . .  .
Jackson told us that Toby was his special friend because "I like him, he's my best friend ever!"
Pip told us that Amelia is her special friend because "She plays with me"

Who is your special friend?
We would love to hear why they are
special to you.
Post us a comment and let us know!

Over in the Clover

Empathability!

Star of the Week!

Congratulations to Alana for being awarded
our 'Star of the Week'.
Well done!

We are looking forward to having lots more 'Stars' after the half-term holiday!

How Are Our Jungle Plants Getting On?

We have been taking a close look at what has been happening to our jungle plants . . .
When we looked at our bean, Rose told us "It grew! A lot of leaves, big and small"
Having looked at our tomatoes, Kaidence predicted "They're going to grow high. The leaves are going to grow big too. We can pick the tomatoes and eat them!"
Jessica told us about the sunflower - "It's grown, it's got leaves. It will grow more and have a flower on top. It will have yellow petals"
There wasn't anything to see when we looked at our sweetpeas!
Hattie told us "It's gone, it's not growing up"
We hope something might start to grow soon!
Alana has predicted that our beanstalk will grow all the way to the sky, and there
might be a castle!

Now we are on the look out for giants!

How are your plants getting on in your garden? Post us a comment and let us know about any changes you have noticed recently.

A Very Royal Wedding!

We hope you have enjoyed celebrating the marriage of Prince Harry and Meghan.

We had a very special wedding of
our own yesterday . . .
Don't they make a lovely couple!

Prior to the celebrations, some of the children in Nursery shared their own experiences of weddings:

Noah - "My mums and my dads, they got married at the church - I was wearing a shirt"

Kaidence - "My mums - at the church. I wore a wedding dress like my mum. I carried flowers, they were very pretty"

Christopher - "My mummy and daddy were married. They danced, they did a spin - a slow dance"

We would love to hear about any weddings that you have been to.
Post us a comment and let us know!

Star of the Week!

Congratulations to Sophie and Noah for being awarded our 'Star of the Week'.

Well done both of you!

If You're Happy and You Know It!

We have had lots to be happy about this week, and so chose this as our next Jan Ormerod
book to share . . .

Click here to read about some of the children's favourite animals that appeared in the book!

Animal Antics!

We were very excited when we had a visit from Corner Exotics, and came to Nursery dressed ready for the occasion!

We made lots of wonderful new friends . . .
"He was so soft and smooth!"

"It was spiky!" (Beau)

"He had lots of legs, and his legs felt spiky and tickly. He had black stripes" (Zara)

What do you think it would have been like holding the frog or one of the snakes?

Afterwards we used the watercolours to record our favourite memory from the visit . . .

Amelia chose the chinchilla

Georgia chose one of the snakes

Which would have been your favourite?
