Star of the Week!

Congratulations to Alfie D, Iwa, Sienna and Freddie for all being awarded our
'Star of the Week'.

Well done everyone!

Planting A Jungle!

The children have been very excited about our new jungle theme, and as part of their activities this week we have been doing some planting in the hope of growing our own jungle!
Before planting our tomatoes, runner beans, sunflowers and sweet peas, the children thought about what they might need and made predictions about what they thought would happen.

We are all going to try to be patient and show 'stickability' as we look after our plants and wait for them to grow!

Have you planted anything in your garden recently?
Post us a comment and let us know!

Doing the Animal Bop!

This term we are going to have a new author focus and will be sharing books from Jan Ormerod and Lindsey Gardiner . . .
Our first one features lots of animals, some of which we have talked about during our jungle related activities!

Click here to find out what some of the children said about this lovely rhyming book.

Happy St George's Day!

We have been finding out about St George and the Dragon . . .
It was great fun dressing up and  re-enacting the story in front of our castle!
We used the puppets too.
To end the session, we shared a lovely story book - with a surprise 'George' character!

Have you been celebrating today?
We would love to hear what you have done, post us a comment and let us know.
But remember - watch out for dragons!

Hopes and Dreams!

As part of our focus on 'Stickability' we have been talking about our friend the tortoise . . .
Although they seem slow and heavy, tortoises have lived for hundreds of years. They always get where they need to go and if we think positively, we can get to where we want to go too. If we don't give up and stick at it, we can achieve our dreams!

Here are just a few of the children's hopes and dreams for the future:

Alfie T - "I'd like to be a footballer, get a ball with black spots on - that's a football - I'd like to kick it and throw it"

Annie - "I want to go to big school, cause it's so much fun. We'll do some older things like bigger children"

Theo A R - "Get work and get money!"

Zara - "I want to be a mountain climber, because I like climbing things!"

They are all going to try and show 'stickability' so that they can achieve their dreams!

What are your hopes and dreams for the future? How will you demonstrate 'stickability' to achieve what you want to do?

Post us a comment and let us know!

Star of the Week!

Our first 'Star of the week' for the summer term is Samuel W - well done!

Stickability!

Our new Darwin Value for this half-term is 'Stickability'.

We hope the following will provide you with a useful insight into what it is all about. . .

Rumble in the Jungle!

Welcome back following the Easter break.
This half-term we are going to have a
jungle focus!
We started by looking at a famous painting by Rousseau - here are just a few of the comments made by the children when we talked about what they could see . . .

Beau - "Leaves - they're green, they're orange - a jungle!"

Seth L - "It's got branches on the trees. Monkeys hang on trees. Tigers walk in the jungle"

Samuel W - "Tigers - there's stripes on them. There's trees, long grass, leaves - when there's wind the wind blows the leaves off!"

Olivia - "I'd like to pet the tiger - cause I like tigers, because it's nice and soft!"

We had lots of fun reading the story of 'Rumble in the Jungle' - afterwards we explored moving like the different animals and used the percussion instruments to create jungle sounds!

The children at the start of the week chose their favourite jungle animal and thought about what they would need to have to lead a
happy and healthy life . . .
Sophie
 Rose

The children at the end of the week  carried out a survey to find the most popular
jungle animal . . .
How many children chose the giraffe?
What about the snake?
Which was more popular, the monkey or the lion?
Which animal was the most popular?

Which animal would you have chosen and why? Post us a comment and let us know!

Happy Easter!

‿✿⁀ Ɛɑʂtєr ‿✿⁀

We hope you all enjoyed receiving your Easter cards that the children had made for you . . .

There was great concentration as they cut around the egg shape!

Then came the fun part of choosing their favourite colour paints and rolling the marble to create the patterns.

We thought the finished results had a look of Jackson Pollock about them - but using a different technique!

On behalf of everyone at Nursery, we would like to wish you all a very happy Easter.

We hope that the Easter Bunny paid you a visit!
