- Thankfully the sun is continuing to shine - please remember to ensure that your child has a sun hat (clearly labelled with their name) and that you apply sunscreen before their nursery session each day.
- We will be joining the rest of school for our Diamond Jubilee Tea Party on Thursday afternoon - remember to bring in your flags, crowns and book marks!
- Thank you to everyone that contributed to our pyjama day on Friday - we don't have a whole school total yet, but once we know how much money was raised, we will let you know.
- Finally - please remember that school will be closed on Friday and then it will be the half-term break, returning on Monday 11th June. We would like to wish everyone a happy holiday - and hope that you enjoy your Jubilee celebrations!

The Very Hungry Caterpillar!
This week we have enjoyed the story of 'The Very Hungry Caterpillar'! After we had shared the story together, we re-told it with the use of some props and instruments and sang a song called 'The Tiny Caterpillar'.
Later in the week we carefully counted how many pieces of fruit there were and worked out how many would be left each time if the Hungry Caterpillar eat one!
To finish off the week, we had lots of fun planning and making our own healthy fruit salad - which would have been your favourite type of fruit to include?

Ladybirds and Butterflies
We have been very creative over the last couple weeks in our Wellie Wednesday sessions. We have painted ladybirds on pebbles and have created beautiful butterflies inspired by Andy Goldsworthy. Did you know there are over 46 species of ladybirds in the UK ? We went on a ladybird hunt and used our ID charts to identify which kind of ladybirds we found. These included several 7 spotted, an Adonis, a Harlequins, and some Eyed ladybirds. Jacob was our champion ladybird hunter finding a total of 16!

Magical Minibeasts!
This week we have been having lots of fun exploring the school grounds - we started off by going on a minibeast number hunt! Once we had found all of the hidden minibeasts we worked together to put the numbers in the right order.
Then we looked for real minibeasts - we made sure that we were very gentle and returned them to their natural habitat once we had had a close look. We have been singing lots of rhymes about minibeasts too this week, and have enjoyed some great stories!

Mini Beast Hotel
Do you like our Mini Beast Hotel?
We wanted to provide a shelter for the mini beasts where they can live and sleep, protected from hot and cold weather as well as predators
We have had a very busy day making it. We placed card board tubes inside a wooden box. We then filled each one with various natural items - dried grass and heather, moss, sheep's wool, bamboo, soil and sticks. We are hoping it will attract all sorts of bugs and are looking forward to seeing who moves in over the next few weeks!

A Week to Celebrate!
On Tuesday we brought in a wonderful selection of flowers to celebrate May Day and used these to inspire some great art work.
We have also been creating 'shape flowers' and copied, continued and created repeating colour sequences using flowers!
On Friday, we watched a video clip on 'Let's Celebrate' (CBeebies) all about Shelin preparing for and celebrating the Buddhist festival of Wesak. We had our own procession outside afterwards and thought of the Buddha who sat under the Bodhi tree - he taught everyone to be kind and good and to live very happily!

What Wonderful Weather!
What wonderful weather for planting trees. It was dry today and the sunshine even came out this afternoon!
We planted 20 saplings today. A sapling is a very young tree. We enjoyed digging holes for the saplings before covering the roots with soil and watering them into the ground
We planted different types of trees including
birch, hazel, rowan, crab apple, hawthorn and elder. We are looking forward to seeing them grow healthy and strong.
Today was also our first time playing in our wooden wigwam. It was great fun and we travelled all over the world in it!
