Stick Man

We had a go at making our own Stick Men and Stick Women today after reading the story ‘Stick Man’ by Julia Donaldson. We collected sticks, leaves and grasses and then tied them together with raffia before drawing on faces.

I wonder what adventures our Stick Men will have? Will they be super heroes protecting the forests and woodlands? What do you think?.........

A little reminder for the week . . .

  • Welcome back after the half-term holiday, we hope you all had an enjoyable week and are now ready for the very busy lead up to Easter!
  • Please remember to return any items of outdoor clothing that you may have taken home so that the children will be prepared and suitably clothed for their Wellie Wednesday session
  • I am sure you would all like to join us in saying a sad farewell to Mrs Wilkinson who will be leaving at the end of this week after 25 years at the school! Many of our children have enjoyed her delicious dinners during their Lunch Club sessions, and she is always ready with a wave and a smile through the kitchen window when the children are playing out in the courtyard. We will all miss her very much but wish her every happiness for the future and hope she will 'pop in' from time to time to let us know how she is getting on.

Star of the Week!

Our Star's of the Week from before half-term were Joel, Freya L and Teri-Rose. Congratulations and well done to you all!

Mr Wolf's Pancakes!

We have loved reading the story of Mr Wolf's Pancakes this week! There were lots of familiar characters that we knew from other stories - and an ending that we weren't expecting!
Just like Mr Wolf, we wrote our own shopping list so that we could buy the ingredients to make some yummy pancakes - they tasted delicious!
Afterwards, we had pancake races and awarded first, second, third and fourth place positions!
Did you have pancakes to celebrate Shrove Tuesday? We would love to hear what your favourite toppings are.

  • Next week will be half-term week - please ensure that you take home any waterproof clothing etc. that your child may require, but please ensure that you return it on the first day back! Thank you.

Kung He Fat Choy!

This week we have been finding out about Chinese New Year! We watched a shadow puppet story explaining the animal race used to determine the sequence of years in the Chinese Zodiac. This year will be the Year of the Snake! The children at the start of the week each decorated a paper plate which we joined together to make a long snake, and the children at the end of the week did the same, but to make a dragon!

We now know a super new rhyme about a Lion Dance which we sang and did the actions to as we went around school for our Chinese New Year Parade. When we got back we had lots of fun trying to use chopsticks to eat our rice, noodles and bean sprouts!
We have had lots of fun celebrating Chinese New Year - we would love to hear about any celebrations that you might have too!

A little reminder for the week . . .

  • Any requests for changes to sessions for the Summer Term are due in by next Monday (11th February) at the latest.
  • As previously asked, please ensure that you do not send in any products containing nuts as we have children in nursery and in school with a severe allergy. Thank you.
  • Please keep checking that your child's school sweatshirts and cardigans have their name in as we have had several recently that have been left in nursery but cannot be returned to their rightful owner as they are 'nameless'! Thank you.

Star of the Week . . .

Our Stars of the Week last week were Katie, George, Georgia, Ocean, Eloise F, Ella and Eva! Congratulations and well done to all of you.

Let's Make Puppets!

This week we have been finding out about all different kinds of puppets and have designed and made some of our own! Some children used a sock, and others used a wooden spoon.

A few children showed their designs and puppets to the rest of the school in assembly today, and we can't wait until next week to start using them in our puppet shows!

Do you know any stories that have got a puppet in them? We would love to hear about them if you do.
