Star of the Week!

Congratulations to Georgia for being awarded our 'Star of the Week'.

Well done!

Happy Chinese New Year!

As part of our celebrations for Chinese New Year, the children came to school wearing red and gold. Red is thought to bring luck, while gold is believed to bring wealth.

Pancakes!

At the start of the week we had a focus on pancakes!
We shared a traditional story that has many different names, including 'The Runaway Pancake', 'The Enormous Pancake' and 'The Big Pancake'.
Click here  to find out what some of the children thought about the story as we read it together!

We also had a number rhyme about pancakes - and worked out how many would be left in the pan each time.

And it was great fun having pancake races!

Did you enjoy some pancakes?
What was your favourite topping?

Star of the Week!

Congratulations to Jessica and Kaidence for both being awarded our 'Star of the Week'.

Well done!

Sleeping Beauty!

As we have been talking about Goldilocks falling asleep in baby Bears bed, we thought we would share another traditional story where somebody fell asleep - only this time it was for 100 years!

Click here  to find out what some of the children told us about Sleeping Beauty!

After we had read the story, we sang and acted out 'There was a Princess Long Ago' - it was fun 'chopping' down the forest!

We decided that we could create our own towers for the Prince and Princess to live in after they were married. We thought about what shapes we could use, here is just one design . . .

"Like a door" (rectangle)
"It's big!"
"Roof - triangle"

We would love to hear what your tower would be like.

Trail in the Woods

Today we imagined we were Hansel and Gretel and made trails through our Forest School area to the gingerbread house. We collected sticks, leaves, grass and pine cones to make our trail.

We also had fun .........

imagining we were animals....

modelling with the sand......

and climbing over the huge tyre!

Matching Bears and Bowls!

We have been talking about the different sized bears and used the computer to match them to their corresponding bowls and spoons so that they could enjoy their porridge!

The children have experienced lots of different size related vocabulary - here is a selection of the words that they used:

'Big, medium, small, huge, large, tiny,
little, smaller'

How would you have described each
different size?

Let us know!

Porridge Party!

Everyone enjoyed the story of Goldilocks and the Three Bears so much that we decided to have our own 'porridge party'!
We invited our bears and took them for a walk while the porridge cooled down . . .

There were three different types of fruit that we added as a topping, and everyone chose which was their favourite . . .
Which one would you have enjoyed the most?
