Election - Vote for your Favourite Flower !

Yesterday we talked to the children about the General Election that was taking place - and then we held our own election to find the children's favourite flower!

We reflected back on the daffodils that we had for Mother's Day, the daisies we have seen growing on the field and the sunflowers that we have recently planted.
Here are some of the positive things that the children liked about each flower . . .

"I like the daffodil because it's got 6 petals" (Logan)
"They can be tall and short" (Harry R)
"I like the yellow bit - the circle" (Ella-Grace)

"I like the daisy because of all the petals" (Rory)
"I like the middle bit cause it's lovely" (Ben F)
"I like the nectar - inside it, and the bees make honey with the nectar" (Sam)

"I like the yellow sunflower because it's growing taller" (Lola)
"It is yellow, there's seeds in the middle and after that they die at Autumn, they fall out and you can plant them again" (Amelia)
"I like the yellow - it's
                                              pretty" (Skylar)

After we had talked about each flower, it was time to vote!

We emptied the ballot box at the end of the morning and counted the votes - in third place came the daffodil with 4 votes, in second place came the sunflower with 6 votes, but in first place - and therefore winning the election, was the daisy with 8 votes!

Which flower would you have
voted for, and why?

Let us know!
