Celebrating Holi!

We have enjoyed sharing a variety of celebrations this term, and this week, we have been finding out about a Hindu spring festival - called Holi!
Known as the festival of colour and lasting anything from three to five days, it celebrates the arrival of spring flowers and when the main crops are almost ready for the spring harvest.
You can click on the links to watch a family preparing for Holi, and then celebrating, followed by watching a Bollywood-style dance performed for Holi.

We thought about some of our favourite colours and what happens if we mix colours together . . .

Alisha - "Do you know what happens when I mix pink with white? It makes light pink!"

We decided to explore what would happen when we did some colour mixing to paint our spring flowers . . .

Mixing red and blue to make purple!

What do you think happened when we mixed red and yellow?

What other colours can you make? Do you know how to make a darker or lighter shade?

Happy colour mixing - and Happy Holi!
