Today we talked about how some birds migrate to warmer climates during the winter months. Other birds stay keeping warm by eating more food or fluffing up their feathers. These birds can get very hungry because it is difficult to get worms out of the ground when it is hard and frozen, so they have to manage by finding seeds and berries. We decided to help the birds by making some special bread cone treats for them to feed on. We spread lard over the pine cones then rolled them in breadcrumbs before hanging them in the trees. Next week we are going to see if the birds have enjoyed their tweet treat feast and whether they fly back for more!

Do you think the birds in your garden would like a tweet treat?

  1. We have lots of birds around our garden. I am sure they would appreciate more food. We will get right to it!
