Celebrating Wesak!

This week we have been thinking about all the kind things that we can do for one another in Nursery and finding out about the special Buddhist Festival of Wesak.

We worked together to create a mandala . . .

 

Buddhists use these for meditation and in their art.

We have all made a promise to go on our 'Kindness Tree' and are creating a 'Peaceful Place' where we can go to be quiet and spend time thinking and reflecting.

Everyone enjoyed the fruit jelly that we made for sharing - we explored one of the jelly cubes before we started:

"It feels all soft - it's all squishy!" (Blossom)

"It's sticky - smells like strawberry!" (Esme)

And predicted what might happen when the hot water was added:

"It will melt - because the water's all hot - it will look like juice" (Summa)

Then if any changes would take place during the time it was in the fridge:

"It will go all bumpy because it will cool down" (Maisy)

"It will turn cold - it will be wobbly - cause jelly is wobbly!" (Alfie)

But the best part was when we sat together under the trees on the field to share our delicious jelly . . . 

"Yummy!"
