May Day Celebrations!

The tradition of celebrating the end of winter began long ago, when villagers would dance around a maypole on the village green and choose a May Queen. Today, on the 1st May children dress up as a May Queen and her followers put garlands in their hair. They parade around through the town, or travel on a flower-covered lorry.

On our return after the May Day Bank Holiday, we thought we would have a go at dancing round the maypole - it was very tricky!

Did you do anything special to celebrate with your family? We would love to hear all about it.
